Water Pump, New, Early XK120 & MK VII
This is the earlier XK120 water pump fitted up to Engine W.5465. This pump was paired with a one-piece, five-blade, cast-alloy fan attached with five bolts on a round hub. (The later pump, C6746, fitted at Engine W.5465 and to all F-series engines employs the riveted, six-blade fan attached with four bolts to a square hub.)
This is a reproduction water pump based on the later “Whitely Design” with a pressed-on integral pulley hub. This design has the improved, large, sealed inner bearing assembly in the body rather than in the hub with a weak, narrow neck. This modern design features a sturdier, solid, hub top, rather than the complex open bearing, dog-and-circlip top assembly. While this pump is functionally superior to an original, it is not technically concours-correct.
