Description
To fit a new steering wheel or replace the turn signal switch (141-850) the original steering wheel must be removed. Removing most steering wheels is not a problem, but the 77-80 MGB poses a special challenge. Due to the length of time they have been around, the steering wheel is generally well and truly frozen onto the steering shaft. For reasons known only to the designers, the late factory steering wheels were made without any provision for their eventual removal. There are no holes for a conventional steering wheel puller, and there is no easy way to grab the wheel because of the rubber material used. This simple tool and a pair of 3 inch “C Clamps” (not included with the tool) make removing the wheel a simple one-man job, and the wheel will not be destroyed in the process.
