The tuning that comes on the BDX easily pulls much more horsepower and torque out of your Expedition’s 5.4L V8 motor without the need for any other performance parts at all. The X4 comes with performance tunes based on fuel octane and work by changing certain parameters of your Expedition’s Powertain Control Module’s (PCM’s) software, like fuel curves and ignition timing, so that your engine produces more power. The tunes are uploaded to your Expedition’s PCM via it’s OBD-II port underneath the dashboard with the X4’s included cable. In just a few minutes, your tune of choice can be loaded up and ready to go. The BDX can also hold up to 10 custom tunes from authorized SCT tuners that can get even more power, as well as compensate for all of your Expedition’s extremely powerful performance upgrades.
Features a Large Screen and Easy to Follow Menus
The BDX itself is an extremely powerful and ergonomic tuning device that comes loaded down with handy features, as well as tunes. Each BDX has a large, color LCD display and large buttons on its body for navigation. The menus and submenus are all self-explanatory and very easy to navigate and follow to make it easy to load a tune, return your Expedition to stock, datalog your 5.4L’s engine function, read and clear DTC codes, and do just about anything else you need.While not a dedicated monitor, the BDX’s large screen can display a huge variety of gauges and other performance metrics that are all easy to read even when you’re driving. The BDX comes with a separate OBD-II cable for hooking into your Expedition’s PCM and comes standard with built-in WiFi for downloading firmware updates and new tunes from your home network. The BDX also comes with a USB cable, if you don’t have a home WiFi network. The BDX comes with everything you need to get it running and get your choice of tune loaded into your Expedition.
